Collegiate Challenge
For two weeks, students from Alleghany College, Kent School, Ursinus College, and the University of Chicago abandoned the traditional ideal of spring break to come build a home in partnership with GLHFH and the Collegiate Challenge program.
Created in 1989 as part of Habitat for Humanity International’s youth programs, Collegiate Challenge offers teens and young adults the opportunity to spend a week of their school break building a home. Many of the participants become regular Habitat for Humanity advocates and volunteers.
Fifty students, with the help of the Midweek Crew, took a bare foundation, added walls and a roof, and created the beginnings of a home at 203 Chambers Street for the Keatt’s Family.

Youth Groups
Under the direction of Pastor Tarja Stevenson, the youth of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Woodbridge, VA, joined GLHFH for the third year in a row.
During the week of June 20th - 25th, the St. Matthew’s youth group continued work on 203 Chambers Street finishing up the painting. On 1316 Monsview they worked on the porch steps, driveway, sidewalks, retaining wall, landscaping, touch-up painting, and other things to finish up the house before the dedication that Saturday. We are very grateful for all their help!
